Got questions about the borrowing process? We have the answers!

Does it cost anything to borrow the items?

No! We are proud to be able to offer all of these items to the community free of charge. We have a suggested yearly membership fee of $30, but it is entirely optional. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes, and the wonderful owners of The Better Good for donating space for our library, we are able to keep our costs down. However, any membership fees and monetary donations we receive go a long way towards helping us pay other expenses such as insurance and maintaining our items. Thank you!

Can I only borrow the items for one week?

Nope! Let us know how long you need the item for, and we can set the due date for then. Traveling to South America for a month and need a mosquito net? No problem. Need a few weeks with the caulking gun to finish that bathroom reno? We've got you covered. The only exception to this is if somebody else has already reserved the item in the near future - in that case, we'll figure something out with you. 

Can I reserve items so that when I show up at the Library, I know they'll be there?
Absolutely! If you are new to the Library simply contact us and we can set the item aside for you. If you have already activated your membership by creating an account as well as showing a piece of photo ID to one of our volunteers, you can browse our online inventory and reserve an item - see how to use the library. Our reservation system also allows you to set a preferred pick up time slot for our Saturday library days.

When can I pick up items I've reserved?

Currently, the library is staffed on Saturdays from 1-4pm.

If these hours don't work for you, send us an email and we can see if one of our volunteers can meet you outside of those hours.

I'm ready to return my item. Do I need to wait until the Library opens on Saturday?

Nope! Items can also be returned Monday to Friday between 11 am to 4 pm. Give the item to Saskatoon Makerspace staff and our volunteers will check the items in when they arrive on the following Saturday.

Can I donate items to the Library?
Yes, please! We are a volunteer-run project, and all of our items have been graciously donated by members of the community. Donating to the Library is a great way to let go of those items cluttering your house that you don't use very often - and the best part is, if you do want to use them in the future, you can come borrow them! We do have somewhat limited space, so we can't accept some larger items. Please review our donate things page to read more about donation guidelines.
How can I tell my friends about the Library?
Please feel free to share links to our Facebook page, Instagram page, and to our inventory! And of course, bring them by on a Saturday afternoon to meet one of our volunteers and browse through the collection.
